"One Breath at a Time" -2009

I'm very excited about this project as it's been two years since my last recording and a lot has happened since then. The past two years have really gone by quickly. I've been in school full time and performing quite regularly. I've just graduated now from school with Respiratory Therapy. I've learned a lot more about what all is involved in this whole "Breathing" thing. It's something we all take for granted, until we can't do it anymore. Then, nothing else matters when you can't breathe! Sometimes life can get so busy that we forget to breathe. We can get so consumed in our daily activities and building our own kingdom that we can actually forget about God's Kingdom. I know I've been busy and I've watched friends and family struggling with the demands that are placed on us by family, the world and ourselves. Often what we need to do is just stop and take a breath to refocus our attention on what really matters...

Give it All

The message behind this new project is to take life one breath at a time, not to get caught up and stressed out about every little thing. My dad always told me growing up to do my best in whatever I do. He always says, "That's all anyone can ask of you". So take a deep breath, thank God that you woke up this morning and whatever is burdening you, "Give it All", to Him.

Miracles

Miracles can come in all shapes and sizes. From playing the saxophone with asthma, to my sister being born 3 months premature or even that automobile accident you managed to escape on the way to work this morning. Or perhaps you're like many just going through the motions of life. Often we don't stop and take the time we need to in prayer until something unexpected happens and we need a Miracle! Then we're begging on our knees when that unexpected thing may have just been God's way of getting our attention. What's more, if we're praying out of our will then the miracle we're praying for may not be the one we need. And the one that the Lord knows we need is right there in front of us, but we're so blinded by our own image of what we think it should look like that we don't even notice… Either way, God still sits on the throne and is still delievering miracles today, one breath at a time!

Jericho

We all have walls and obstacles in our lives. It could be an illness, school, work, relationships, anything that challenges us. Some of these walls can separate us from God. We need to break down these barriers and reconnect with what’s important. Through faith and perseverance you can overcome the chains that are binding you!

One Breath at a Time

Stop, take a deep breath, realize that God is with you and promised to never leave you or forsake you. (Hebrews 13:5) Now continue what you were doing and realize that tomorrow is a new day… repeat as often as necessary.

My Salvation

This song is a lot of fun, it has a nice simple groove and I can really get excited when I play it! Likewise Salvation is as easy as 1-2-3. Though it doesn’t necessarily make your life suddenly easier, the comfort of knowing the God that created the universe loved me enough to send His only Son to die for me so that I can live eternally for Him is plenty to get excited about!

Prayin’ For The City

The United States has been compared to the Roman Empire a time or two. They were on top of the world for quite awhile, but even it crumbled. There’s no doubt that this country is in need. We can point fingers here and there, but the truth is it’s not one single person’s fault. It’s the accumulation of a series of events and decisions that have escalated to what we have now. Our country and our leaders, whether you approve of them or not, need our prayers continuously! And it starts at home, our local communities reaching out a hand and being the hands and body of Christ!

iGod

I remember the first time I was at Wal-Mart and I saw someone talking to themselves, or so I thought. Quite the conversation they were having. Then I saw the Bluetooth earpiece. “Ahh, gotcha”. Cell phone technology has really blossomed quickly. It went from flip phones to really small flip phones and then blackberries and now iphones. Not only can you use your phone to talk on, (who would have guessed that?) but now you can check your e-mail, surf the web, update your facebook status and “Twitter”. Why? Because you can! I still have a regular cell phone that doesn’t do any of that, I’ll probably conform eventually, but in the meantime I can’t help but think that that it’s a little too much. I have a computer for checking my e-mail and so on, I have a phone for well, a phone. Having it all in one handy dandy location makes sense, but one must be careful, technology can make life easier and it can take us away from more important things. Really such devices can become “Idols” in our pockets. We must be careful not to get too caught up with the ways of the world. “For we are in the world, not of it”. iPods are cool as long as you don't let it become your iGod!

Redemption

This is really two songs in one. We’re redeemed through Jesus Christ, He already paid the price. When I play this song I feel as though I’m laying my burdens at the altar. Then God takes them half way through the song and lifts them off my shoulders. This is when the song suddenly changes. Whatever you are carrying, lay it down at the altar, the price has already been paid…

“Will You Be Mine” 2007***********************

This project is a love album to God. After all, isn’t’ that was worship is? Though the title track was originally written for my future wife, whoever she may be, it also raises another question. Christ died for us and in doing so asked us to follow Him. He allows us the free choice to follow Him or not, and is basically asking, “Will You Be Mine?” Will you be my child and follow me?

Keep Hangin’ On

“Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.” Psalms 23:4. Though we may face stress and heartache we can rest assured that God’s promised to never leave us or forsake us. "The LORD will keep you from all harm— he will watch over your life; the LORD will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore." Psalms 121:7-8 He is with us until the end of the age so whatever you’re goin through keep hangin’ on!

Carousel

This song is about the Prodigal Son syndrome we all seem to partake in from time to time. For me, I kept putting off finishing college for the longest time. And until I did, God couldn’t reveal a portion of the plan He had for me. There were doors I needed to walk through that I couldn’t until I let go of some stubbornness and gave in. We can fight God’s will and be miserable or we can just go along and let Him order our steps appropriately and it will be much smoother! Because eventually, He’s going to bring us back around to where we started, where He wanted us, much like a Carousel.

Beach Drive

There’s a beautiful stretch of road on the bay here in town where I live called, “Beach Drive”. Every time I drive on it I can’t help but notice the beauty of God’s creation. Palm trees, sun sets and sand white as snow…and to think some people think all of this happened by chance? Ha!

Now Is The Time

I can’t tell you how many people have told me that they grew up in church, sat in the pews all of those years, but never made that life changing commitment to follow Christ until they were older well into adulthood, and for some, senior adult hood. Unfortunately, some people never get that 2nd chance. There’s no better time like the present to make the decision to follow Christ. We’re not promised tomorrow and forever is a long time not to spend eternity in heaven, choose life.

Chris Godber “Self Titled” - 2006*******************

Be Still

Back in High School I started detailing cars as a hobby. You can tell a lot about a person by the way they keep their car, or in some cases how they don’t. People can throw a lot of stuff in their back seats. If it’s not used for occupants it becomes a trash receptacle. McDonald’s wrappers, French fries, soda cans, basically any thing you don’t want to deal with at the moment. And everyone has the good intention of cleaning it out later. Our spiritual lives can be similar. A sin here and there, we throw it in our back seat with the intentions of working on it later. But over time, they stack up and before long we don’t know how it got like that or what to do about it. When storms arise we need to give them to God to begin with, turn it over to the One that can do all things, and He will calm the storms in your life. With just two words, “Be Still”…

When Angels Sing

Heaven is going to be a non stop worship service. Singing and praising God for all eternity. There's not going to be roped off sections for the Pentecostals on one side, Baptists over here and so on. Everyone will be together worshiping like never before! And the sound of the angels, I can only imagine what it will sound like! In the meantime I’m practicing to be in the band, and this is what I hear when I think about it.

Flyin’

This is my interpretation of what I think “I’ll Fly Away” should sound like. “I’ll Fly Away” always seemed really dry and dull. I decided to freshen it up a bit.

Journey Home

Life is a journey; we have many ups and downs, hills and valleys. We each have a story to tell and a life to lead. On a tombstone there is a beginning and an end. There’s two dates, but the most important part is the dash inbetween those dates. What you did with your life. We’ve been called to spread the Good News. That was Jesus’ last commandment to us before He left this earth. So how are you doing that? Actions speak louder than words, your lifestyle can help lead people to Christ or push them away. "Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth." - 1 John 3:18 So what will you do on your journey home, what will you do with the time that is left?
